Organized Religion

Organized religion Why do we have organized religion. Q: Why do we have organized religions? Didnt Jesus just roam the earth with no religion, just healing the sick and preaching His gospel? A: Jesus religion was of YHWH in Jewish Israel. Technically this "religion" has been around since Eden; was of the coming Messiah, it was always Christianity. *Messiah is the Jewish word for the Greek word Christ. Christ on earth in human flesh was ethnic Israeli of Jewish faith. He taught in the Synagogues… ”He began to teach in their synagogues and was praised by everyone” (Luke 4:14-15). “Jesus answered, “I have spoken openly to the world; I have always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all the Jews come together. I have said nothing in secret” (John 18:20). He taught out in the open air as well. God is the God of order not disorder/chaos (1).  Scripture tells us God had churches formed, there is order in the church, services were held orderly and in a certain way, j...

Objections

Christians know: “… Always be prepared to give an answer to ... to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect" 1 Peter 3:15 Isaiah 1:18 - "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the Lord, "Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool." But also, we know when to end a convo: Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be just like him. Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes. Proverbs 26:4‭-‬5  “Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you." Matthew 7:6 And  "Whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you go out ... shake the dust off the soles of your feet for a testimony against them." Matthew 10:14, Mark 6:11, Luke 9:5 "But when they resisted and blasphemed, he shook out h...

What Jesus Redeems us From

Clarity on "Freedom"  Romans 8:2, which says, "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death." The Apostle Paul is explaining the freedom that believers have in Christ. He contrasts two laws: the law of sin and death, which refers to the power of sin to bring death and condemnation, and the law of the Spirit of life, which is the power of the Holy Spirit to bring life and freedom. Paul is reminding the readers that because of their faith in Christ, they have been set free from the power of sin and death. They are no longer under the condemnation of the law, but are now empowered by the Spirit to live a new life. This freedom comes through the sacrifice of Christ, who took upon himself the penalty of sin and death, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, who works in the lives of believers to transform them and help them live according to God's will. What does Jesus "redeem us from" ? Romans 6:23: ...

Does Arsenokotai mean lover of boys?

Arsenokotai doesnt mean lover of boys Re: Arsenokotai (ie. homosexuality in Scripture) So...I’m a biblical languages guy who pores over the Hebrew, Greek, and even occasionally Luther’s German text.  Unfortunately the whole “it’s about pedophiles not homosexuality” is bad scholarship and fake news.  This argument has cropped up a lot in super progressive circles and it’s just not accurate.  Arsenokoitai is a hybrid word for man bedding. Man in the sense of male and bedding in the sense of having sex.  The word arsenokotai is also not even used in the verse most frequently quoted (Leviticus 18:22). (1) Leviticus was originally in Hebrew and it breaks the elements up instead of using a single word. It reads trans literally as V’et-zakar Lo tis-kab v’et mishkabe ishah towabah hi.  Or “with a male (negative) you lie down in the act of lying down sexually as lying (with) a wife an abomination that (is).” All standard words for male, is same word used to distinguish ...

Jesus Childhood

Jesus Childhood Read: Luke 2:21-52. 21 Eight days after His birth, the baby was circumcised in keeping with Jewish religious requirements, and He was named Jesus, the name the messenger had given Him before His conception in Mary’s womb. 22 After Mary had observed the ceremonial days of postpartum purification required by Mosaic law, she and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord. 23 They were fulfilling the Lord’s requirement that “every firstborn Israelite male will be dedicated to the Eternal One as holy.” 24 They also offered the sacrifice required by the law of the Lord, “two turtledoves or two young pigeons.” 25 While fulfilling these sacred obligations at the temple, they encountered a man in Jerusalem named Simeon. He was a just and pious man, anticipating the liberation of Israel from her troubles. He was a man in touch with the Holy Spirit. 26 The Holy Spirit had revealed to Simeon that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Anoi...

Ocean Tragedy Truth

The world held their breath for 96 hours hoping and praying that the 5 souls onboard would be rescued. Most had no idea of what the problem was, if they had communications, and if there was a tour company back up plan for rescue if things went wrong. We thought they might be rescued in the nick of time, and worried they would die just before the rescue team arrived.  We came to later learn the sub imploded at the time communication was lost that first day. The truth of this disaster, is the designer and captain of both the titanic and titan sub blatantly rejected safety concerns and that took people to their death.  Stop Exploring? Many people commented that perhaps folks shouldnt be doing underwater exploration, but we have space exploration, we have military sub exploration, we have oceanographic exploration, we have deep divers, free divers, as well as ship explorers for thousands of years. We also have hige aquariums and restauraunts built underwater as well as tunnels for...

SBC on Women

This includes the BFM 2000 statement, the 2021 resolution “On The Dignity And Worth Of Women, and the 2023 Resolution clarifying womens roles in the body of Christ:  ON THE LEGACY AND RESPONSIBILITY OF WOMEN FULFILLING THE GREAT COMMISSION WHEREAS, Both men and women are created in the image of God, sharing equal value, dignity, and worth, and are commissioned by God (Genesis 1:26–28); and WHEREAS, Scripture calls women to obey Christ’s Great Commission and demonstrates women are crucial and indispensable to His mission (Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 1:8; 2:17–18); and WHEREAS, Shiphrah and Puah protected the children of God (Exodus 1:15–20), Miriam proclaimed the glory of God (Exodus 15:20–21), Rahab saved her family from certain death (Joshua 6:22–25), Deborah judged God’s people (Judges 4:4–9), Jael delivered Israel (Judges 4:17–22), Hannah prayed for and dedicated her child to God (1 Samuel 1:10–11), Huldah prophesied God’s judgment and mercy (2 Chronicles 34:22–28), Ruth and Naomi ex...

Eunuchs

Image
A lot of people were born Eunuchs, others choose to do so. Usually for service of a King to keep his women away from those male servants. They didnt stop being men just because it was wacked off either. They were still seen as men. Scripture speaks of those people. And it was either because of the Fall, imposed or by choice.  Matthew 19:12 - For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother's womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are also eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs (2) The story of these boys(1) shows mustve thought it was a life that would benefit them, obtain a career, and be cared for if they joined that religion and sing for their lifetime job. It must've given some kind of void earthly honor to their parents, and them fame, attention and provided for them; something they chose.  The health issues noted here might be of value when talking to men today who want to whack it off to try to live as a women. Theyll still be me...

Which would you choose?

Image
Which do you want? If I stood before you right now and I held in one hand a glass that was full of big diamond rocks that were retrieved from the mines of South Africa, worth millions and millions of dollars, and then in the other hand, I had a glass that was full of mountain spring Evian water, and I held them before you and I said, “Listen, you have the choice of one or the other,” you wouldn’t take me seriously. It’d be ridiculous to ask you which one you would take.  But if we switched up the scenario, and you had happened to be lost in Death Valley for a week, having not had a drop of water in days, and all of a sudden I magically appeared before you holding the same glass of diamonds and the same glass of water and I give you the choice of one or the other, you can guarantee that your priorities would change. You need to recognize now that Christ is the only means that God has given by which man can be saved. There is no name under Heaven given by which we must be...

Is what is being said rude & hateful or do you have a misunderstanding on truth

Many comments here are rude and full of disdain. Is what is in your hearts and mouths hatred? Then how can you speak truth in love? Is your truth the truth, but you speak like this about others?  A:  First, there needs to be clarity on the definition of Hate, and on what is Truth. 1. Defining & discussing hate http://snsanswers.blogspot.com/2023/06/do-christians-hate.html 2. Truth matters  http://longertweets.blogspot.com/2022/10/truth.html Q: What about Peter 3:15 speaking of gentleness?  Specifically, in reference to comments that have been made by some of the "Christians" here. 1 Peter 3:15 calls for gentleness and respect with regards to people such as lgbt+. A: This verse is about the Gospel, and from a biblical perspective that would still include Truth of Scripture overall. It is in reaching people and reasoning with them. Scripture says All humans are sinners, all are made in His image and we are to reach everyone with the Gospel so others can be saved a...

Binding and Loosing?

This is a misunderstood and often issue that needs correcting due to by false teachers in modern churches.  The topic of "binding and loosing" is in relation to sin and forgiveness  & is found in the New Testament, both of which refer to the authority given to the apostles by Jesus: 1. Matthew 16:18-19 - "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Vs 20:  For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.  >>The Father & Son are participating with the congregation 2. Matthew 18:18 - "Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." In these passages, Jesus is speaking specifically to Peter and t...

Why Christians do not embrace a nations "Culture"

There is one reason.   We follow what God says. Those of the world are of Satan and are wicked ones who practice and love evil. They do what is evil and are workers of iniquity who love darkness and do not walk in righteousness.  Those born again by God have a new nature; the righteous nature of Christ. They are no longer enslaved to nor controlled by the Sin nature and Satan.    "You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." - James 4:4  "For if, while we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!" - Romans 5:10 "The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so." - Romans 8:7  "And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked...

Do Christians "Hate"?

We need to define hatred, not as the world redefines it but as God has defined it.  Today the world calls good evil and evil good , just as God said they would. And that they would exchange the truth for a lie . (1) Hatred is fine if justified. God hates sin, we should too. If you hate people that's wrong(2), but it is another thing if you are having difficulty telling the difference between people hating this sin, and them hating the people committing the sins.  Moral disagreement isn't hate.  Warning people of God’s judgment of evil is an act of love, not hate. What has God said on hate?  "The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers." Psalm 5:5  "The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence." Psalm 11:5  "As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” Romans 9:13 "Do I not hate those who hate you, O Lord? And do I not loathe those who rise up against you? I hate them wi...

But Deborah

But Deborah ...... What does Scripture say?  Judges 4:9 “Certainly I will go with you, But because of the course you are taking, the honor will not be yours, for the Lord will deliver Sisera into the hands of a woman" said Deborah To their shame a woman was used instead of men.  Deborah believed that God had given the children of Israel a victory. And so, Deborah encouraged the army, said, “Look, the victory’s ours; let’s just go take it.” And she led them out, and they did. However, even though her doing this was a shame towards men, she was an encourager.  Look into the topics of Deborah more here  & at gty.org under the search feature. <<<< prev page Related On Women's Roles Biblical Answers about Women  What is the Gospel Believers Resources

Why God Blocked the Tree of Life

Why it was a good thing that God blocked access to the tree of life Genesis 3:24 says, “He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.” In addition, the presence of the sword-bearing cherubim stresses that Adam and Eve were forcefully expelled from the Garden of Eden.  There was no possibility that Adam and Eve or any other person could later reach the tree of life.(1) What happened was Humans died spiritually in Eden and physically the judgment was proclaimed; death came upon all for the wages of sin, though by God's grace he allowed us to live a certian timeframe. Death still stalks us and will take us. But thank God he blocked the way to the tree of life, in Eden, to ensure we would not live eternally in these decaying, health failing, old growing, disease ridden, deformed & disabled bodies, but that we would be made new; given spiritual life in...

Animals gone wild

Q: Why do animals attack people?  A: Because of the Fall there is a risk because corruption has entered the whole of creation. Humans were originally having proper dominion over all the earth (incl the creatures here), but then the animals were caused to fear man by God to help protect them to a degree; not be trusting.  However nature is wild and lives as they were designed to as well. Animals hunt & eat other animals.  So with all that, some are just following fishing boats for fish, others will be aggressive and attack. Some go crazy, like killer whales, or occassional dolphins, others are angry at poachers and see all humans as threats. The world is unpredictable because of the fall. Fortunately it will soon have a time of rest and peace for a time; Isaiah describes a vision of peace and harmony in the animal kingdom in the future.  "The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and...

Call to Action 💥

Final call to action:  James 4:13-14, which says: "Now listen, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.' Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." "Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring." - Proverbs 27:1 Hebrews 3:15 "As has just been said: 'Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did [before].'" Seize the day, cease this chance while it is available. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Get right with God right now, because you do not even know if you will be alive in 5 minutes or even tonight.  160k people die every day.  If you died right now, without Jesus as your Savior you are doomed, so ensure you are Heavenbound. 🙏 2 Corinthians 6:2 "For he says, 'In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salv...

On Psalm 23

Psalm 23 is a well-known psalm that speaks of God's loving care and guidance for His people. The psalm is believed to have been written by King David, and it has been a source of comfort and strength for countless believers throughout the ages.  Verse 1: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." Verse 2: "He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters." Verse 3: "He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake." Verse 4: "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." Verse 5: "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows." Verse 6: "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever."  These verses speak of God's provision, guidanc...

Q: Most dont follow the Bible

Q: The teachings of the Bible... Does it really matter? It seems even most religious people don't follow them. Re: topic on the Lord's Prayer and generally about prayer, and what appears to be hypocritical lives of Christians. A:   The prayer isn't for religious people tho. It is only those born again . Prayer is communicating with God and aligning to His will. The Lord's Prayer is an example of how to pray to the Father [God]. God only hears the prayers of the redeemed. The prayer is likely known by 85% of the country due to vbs (Vacation Bible School) and a large majority went/going to church w grandparents and parents. So it is also similar to the 10 Commandments. People know "of" them. See: NeedGod.com  Q:  God only hears the redeemed? I'm not so sure of that. What about if the redeemed, "slip back"? That being said, I've seen many so called Christians "not" following the 10 commandments. A: good questions.  1. God's Word ...
