Honoring & Obeying parents as adults?

Q: 10C Obey and Honor parents is commanded. We cant pluck that verse out of context, as an adult I believe they live their own life. Wouldnt it also contradict other places in the Bible that says a man is to leave his mother and father once he's married? So, taking in the context of the verse is important because the Bible doesn't contradict itself. A: Your not using the verse in context, & not overall biblical teaching on the topic, thus your opinions are clouding biblical truth. We dont just take a verse only at face value, it actually "means" something, and biblical cultural context needs to be included. Even so, it doesnt give a age in the verse your using here, it does it? In either verses. Thus age isnt a factor.  Let's use critical thinking skills and common sense for a minute. Many adult children aren't married, so when does obeying them end? Our society doesn't have unwed son or daughter live at home until married, as Israel did, and should s...

Counseling: Honoring & Obeying your parents

Image
Here are resources to help you through your teen, young adult and adult years regarding your parents. Scripture says "Obey your parents." As they are the ones put in governance over you who are responsible for you and God has given responsibility to, to raise you up in the Lord, in truth The home is a place of government, of leadership by your parents and a chuch where you learn truth, learn Scriptures, and worship and thank and praise God. The home is a mini world and to be a mini Heaven on earth.  Timothy's mother and grandmother raised him up in the Lord faithfully to know the Scriptures, and for it to be a light and guide on his path in life, and to seek counsel from it, seek God's directives, guidance, commands, comfort and peace in Christ by it, to know truth, and salvation, through it.  If you are not raised in a Christian home, you can follow the principles and lead your future family in them. You can reason with your parents, explain why you disag...
