SBC on Women

Denomination SBC

A church affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, remains autonomous from the convention.  Each church directs its affairs apart from outside intervention, deciding for itself how to deal with all matters.  The Convention recognizes that in the New Testament there was no centralized ecclesiastical authority over the churches that forced the churches into any form of compliance. There was encouragement, exhortation, and admonition, but there was never enforcement. You become a Southern Baptist by uniting with a Southern Baptist church, (one in friendly cooperation with the general Southern Baptist enterprise of reaching the world for Christ). Southern Baptists have prepared a statement of generally held convictions called The Baptist Faith & Message . It serves as a guide to understanding who we are.
