What Jesus Redeems us From
Clarity on "Freedom" Romans 8:2, which says, "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death." The Apostle Paul is explaining the freedom that believers have in Christ. He contrasts two laws: the law of sin and death, which refers to the power of sin to bring death and condemnation, and the law of the Spirit of life, which is the power of the Holy Spirit to bring life and freedom. Paul is reminding the readers that because of their faith in Christ, they have been set free from the power of sin and death. They are no longer under the condemnation of the law, but are now empowered by the Spirit to live a new life. This freedom comes through the sacrifice of Christ, who took upon himself the penalty of sin and death, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, who works in the lives of believers to transform them and help them live according to God's will.
