Softened skeptic desiring church & God, w believing husband, seeks help answering young child's questions

Q: I have a concern & need help. For YEARS I have been feeling the need of going to a church and get close to God. I have A LOT of doubts in my heart I feel skeptic, because of that I haven’t been in a church in so many years. I was raised in a latino catholic family ( like most of hispanic/latino culture) and i honestly never feel any connection to the religion, and I have very bad memories and experiences not directly with the church, but the people who practiced religion. I see a lot of stuff that doesn’t really match what they’re preaching.  l’m 36 i have 4 kids total 20, 19 and 18 and because my “divorce” of religion they don’t believe in God or religion, not totally because of me, but because they decided to not believe or follow the religion (maybe because they see what i see as well).  But lately the last year or so, my little 7 yo girl 7 has being asking me so many questions about God, who is God, if he take care of her, what do I know about him, and how to pray....

Is it mandatory that we sit under a pastor?

Q: Is it mandatory that we sit under a pastor? I’m currently visiting churches. I’m not a member. But I’m saved. I’ve been saved for years. I was a member of a church but changes in my family (death of my mom) has caused me to leave my home church. Quite frankly it’s emotionally hard for me to attend that church because of grief. I cry everytime I visit. So now I’ve mainly been visiting churches. I’m hesitant on joining one of them because I feel they’re too legalistic. They base salvation on wearing long skirts that drag to the ground. I’ve never backslid. But my dad and brother treat me like I’m not saved. Both of them said because I’m not under a pastor that it will be difficult to stay saved. And theyve got some nerve. Both of them struggle in their flesh. I can’t tell you how many people are living backslidden sitting right up in church every Sunday. I plan to just move my membership somewhere. The pastor at the church I’ve mainly been attending isn’t very friendly and most of the...

Being at Church & actively part of that (local church) community matters

This resource addresses a major problem of professing believers today about importance of corporate gathering. There is much more here that can educate and bless you, and help save you a lot of pain in faq section too.  Redeemed Believers need to be in Church Being an active member in Church, matters .  Actively being in the Church matters for many many reasons Church attendance & being a member is not optional. Being a member of a local congregation matters.  It is the people of God whom we will be with eternally. Brethren adopted by God into a new eternal family. This is our family.  We are set apart by God, for him and His glory. It is communal. It is not something you participate in by tv or by vr. It is not a solo activity. It is a gathered people for a purpose. The assembly of God.  We are to edify, build one another up in the faith, and serve God and others in the local congregation.  It is a living breathing community (co...

Doesnt want to go to church?

Q: How do you counsel someone who claims they are a Christian but do not want to go to church? Can you be a true Christian and not regularly attend church? A: It doesnt sound like they have a medical or physical or elderly issue, so if they're not in church, they're outside the will of God.  They are giving excuses and revealing theyre likely a false convert. Many "come to Jesus" for wrong reasons, and you should probe and help them examine if their salvation is true. For those who still claim to be born again after that discussion, they need to be educated, corrected, admonished and exhorted lovingly so they are discipled in this matter and get into a local church this week.  Those not wanting to be in church reveal a core heart issue. If we love Jesus we will obey Scripture. We will see our place is in the local congregation, and to be using the gifts God gave us for the good works he had planned for us to do in this life. That plus many other things are reasons we ...

Dont force kids to go to church? A: Christians are not "forcing" them. God gave us these kids to be "raising" in the home according to truth and our faith [which is both]. They're obeying God to lead them and train them up in the Lord. We do that 247 365 in our daily life. Home is a mini world which includes God being first, governance by parent and it is a mini Church where we worship and thank God, learn more about Him, obey and get equipped with the Word to live in the sin stained wicked world. We understand Satan's [1950s- today] feminist movement (which includes lgbt) is to dismantle the family, and that no society ever survived any destruction of the family. We also see the newer faster advancing plan happening to pull kids from mothers godly teaching in the home and have other people raising and undoctrinating from day care to kindergarden thru school grades where satan can use marxist anti God teachers to brainwash them and teach them not to obey ...

bad church experience/ church hurt?

Used to go to church, or left the faith? Those not Christian have a misunderstanding that "today" (after 1995?) "Church" is not how it used to be (back in our grand parent and great grand parents era). Unfortunately there were always false converts in Apostles era, thru to our '70s , and in all thru the 2010's ... it's even worse today. There always will be - until the end of time. It is not just cults and non protestants you need to be on the look out for in the West, it is false converts too and false churches. Those in "churches" with both false preachers with false doctrine/ teachings, are a problem as are those who brought society's false world beliefs into any church, and their sinful behaviors(*) too. But today false converts are even in real Churches. Jesus said he will have them seperated on Judgment day. Hiding in a church and wearing a mask isnt going to trick God. Those cause havoc in churches but wont be in Heaven. And won...
