Sin is an Assault on God
Why does God seek vengance? "Vengeance is mine, and recompense, for the time when their foot shall slip; for the day of their calamity is near, and the things that are coming upon them hasten." Deuteronomy 32:35 In Jeremiah 5:8-9 God says this about sin: "Should I not punish them for this?” says the Lord. “Should I not avenge myself”. It is because all sin is an assault on God's Character & Nature . What is his nature? Perfection; Holiness & Righteousness. What is mans character & nature? It was perfect in holiness and character but due to the Fall in Eden man lost perfection, holiness and righteousness - and instead has been marred by the fall. Mans nature is full of sin. He is conceived in sin, has a sin nature from creation, in the womb, and lives a life of sin. Until God saves the person. If they obey the Gospel of Jesus they will be saved.
