There is a big misconception in Christianity today about what a denomination is, why they exist and who is in a denomination. False religions are not a denomination of Christianity. That includes works based religions like Catholicism, Orthodox, Church of England; Anglican & Episcopalian(1), and cults (like Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, 7th day adventists, Church of Christ, etc), they are not Christian because they reject the essentials God has revealed plainly to us in Scripture, and greatly distort truths taught in it. Scripture is God's Special Revelation to mankind. Christianity is a grace based faith, has the true Gospel, and holds to & teaches what the Bible actually says. Very simply Denominations in Christianity are protestant . Only protestant. These Christian Denominations came about because the Reformation brought truth to the people. What Hills should you die on?  Besides the Essentials there are areas of secondary matters. These are ones diff churches disagree on and it is due to either 1. Lack of biblical knowledge; they haven't matured yet in understanding Scripture, or 2. The straight up reality that person doing it & the ones embracing it are "not saved". And if it isnt #1 then theyre actually outside of Christianity and theyre excluded from what's being said on essential/secondary issues because that so called "church" is a false church with false teachers and false converts following false beliefs. For actual Christian  secondary issues, these are areas where we can still be friendly with the brethren, but on some issues we cannot because it is clearly outside of Scriptural teaching (which the more mature believers understand). Disagreeing Rightly  “ How to master the art of disagreement in the Church” 1. Essentials- hills to die on, and cant fellowship with.  2. Secondary - cant do church together 3. Tertiary - can have a discussion over dinner thats it.  4. Can have disagreement over: Social, Political, Cultural issues ... but pick what hills to die on (like abortion). But do it calm and respectfully. Many areas of SPC dont matter eternally.  How to engage people while living out the biblical Christian faith in church & in the world? Especially with non biblical non theological issues: 1. How important is the issue? 2. How sure am I of my position? 3. Can reasonable Christians disagree? 4. Can we disagree and be members of the same church? 5. Am I prizing the argument above the person? 6. Am I prizing the issue above the unity of the church? 7.
