On Psalm 23

Psalm 23 is a well-known psalm that speaks of God's loving care and guidance for His people. The psalm is believed to have been written by King David, and it has been a source of comfort and strength for countless believers throughout the ages. 

Verse 1:

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."

Verse 2:

"He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside still waters."

Verse 3:

"He restores my soul.

He leads me in paths of righteousness

for his name's sake."

Verse 4:

"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil,

for you are with me;

your rod and your staff,

they comfort me."

Verse 5:

"You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies;

you anoint my head with oil;

my cup overflows."

Verse 6:

"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

all the days of my life,

and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord

forever." 

These verses speak of God's provision, guidance, protection, and comfort for His people, just as a shepherd cares for his flock. The hymn "Lord, like a Shepherd Lead Us" is a beautiful reflection of the themes found in Psalm 23.

A well known hymn like prayer was created from it. 

The hymn "Lord, like a Shepherd Lead Us" is based on Psalm 23 and was written by Dorothy A. Thrupp in 1836. The lyrics of the hymn are as follows:

Verse 1:

Lord, like a shepherd lead us,

much we need Thy tender care;

In Thy pleasant pastures feed us,

for our use Thy folds prepare.

What is the Gospel?

Have you obeyed it yet, you can, today, right now. God will hear your first prayer; of repentance trusting in Jesus, and gratitude of salvation. 

If you did, this verse can apply to you. You must persevere in the faith to the end, to prove you did not believe falsely in vain, but have obtained eternal salvation having been born again by God.
