Rapture Questions?

God seperates out those who are saved, they do not go into judgment as the rest of the world.

Rapture is from the Word raptus. To be caught up. To be taken out of. To be saved from.

The original Greek word for "caught up" in the Bible verse describing the Rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:17) is harpagēthēsōmen.

• Harpagēthēsōmen is a future passive participle of the verb harpazo, which means "to seize, snatch, or carry off by force."

The Latin translation of this word, raptus, is where the English term "Rapture" is derived.


• The Rapture refers to the event when believers in Christ will be "caught up" to meet the Lord in the air.

• This event is described in 1 Thessalonians 4:17.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18:
"For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."


GotQuestions explains, The doctrine of the rapture was not taught in the Old Testament(1), which is why Paul calls it a “mystery” now revealed: “Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed” (1 Corinthians 15:51–52).

The rapture is a glorious event that, according to Scripture, we should all be longing for. We will finally be free from sin. We will be in God’s presence forever. 

The rapture should be a comforting doctrine full of hope; God wants us to “encourage one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:18).

(1) However I would say we do have examples of it from the Old Testament. It's just that people never connected the dots until a fuller explaination was revealed by God in NT times thru Apostles as Paul noted.

Just as Noah was protected in the ark, God took him out by protecting him in the judgment, since he was still to live in the world and not go to Heaven, or humanity would end. 

In the same way in Exo 8:22, 9:4

The judgment of plagues fell in Egypt, and their people died, God kept his people out of the judgment that fell, by keeping them safe inside. Since they were to still to live in the world, as God was not done with humanity yet. 

When the Church era is over, God will call the redeemed out of this world and into Heaven for the wedding feast at the marriage banquet between Jesus and the Bride- Church, and we will ever be with Him. Once we are called out, judgment falls on the world, and the end times events will one by one take place.
