I want to read the Bible 📖

Q: I want to read the Bible, whats the best way? I am determined to read it, the whole book, and learn as much as I can.

What’s the easiest way to go about this? 

Should I do from beginning to end? Should I start off with New Testament or should I skip around chapters? where to Start? 

A: Its good to read it. 

Are you a unbeliever or a believer?

The Bible is important to read & has something to say to everyone. 

*Unbelievers can only sort of see surface level things and don't see how things connect, or what's spiritual. Believers have spiritual eyes & the Holy Spirit indwelling and he supernaturally teaches them. 

God did give the Bible to the world, and you can read about the Gospel in the New Testament which has the power to save.

*For Believers, born again by God, it is a treasure box we never really fully exhaust as we read & study it daily for life. It tells us about God, who he is, and about salvation from Eden to Revelation, how to live holy lives, teaches theology, brings us closer to God, tells us about eternity, brings peace & joy, brings comfort, and gives us deeper understanding of the myriad things God reveals to us through it.

One "read through" the Bible won't be enough, but it is def a start! You can look at each portion/story and gleen from it what it is saying. If you have Church background having sat under teachers in Sunday School, vbs and sermons, God might show you some "ohhh" moments that connect what you learned from Scripture to that historical story or teaching or principle. And as you go through Scripture you can see the big picture and the doctrines it teaches. 

My best recommendation regardless of your salvation status is to read it from Genesis 1-11 & John to the End, then from cover to cover. This way you have a better chance of connecting some things from the Old Testament to the latter portion of Scripture with Jesus - and the Apostles writings in the NT. It paints a clearer picture by reading this way. 

My other recommendation is to 

1. Use a top respected reputable Bible: NASB95/LSB21/NKJV

2. Use an audio Bible with it, esp if it's a dramatized version. It helps you get through areas that seem boring or dry or uninteresting as a new reader. Plus it's nice as it feels like besides God, someone's with you.

Read the Bible over and over. By the time you read it through 3 or 4 times you will have a basic grasp. Believers read it daily for life, so make it a morning practice.

After that you can move on to targeted topic reading plans. The above link links to various ones.
