Q: Why are most Christians against the book of enoch? I know some believe that it contradicts the bible, but can't seem to find a good answer.
A:
1. If it contradicts the bible then it isn't God's word. You kind of answered your own question.
2. Apocryphal books are not Scripture; not the Word of God.
3. Just because someone calls it similar to something we see in black and white in the Bible - doesnt make (what appears real) to be it "that" thing.

5. What else do we need to realize using critical thinking skills and logic?
Jude’s quotation does not mean the Book of Enoch is inspired by God or that it should be in the Bible. In fact - it doesnt even mean that book in Apocrapha was even Enoch's book/writings.
The Book of Enoch that you’re mentioning was written centuries after Enoch lived. So many people are like “Well Enoch is mentioned in the Bible so this book that people are saying is from him just must be him.” NO.
6. It was never even accepted as biblical scripture by Jews nor by real Christians. We know "when" the 39 OT books in Scripture were written and they were always considered canon by the Jews and early Christians of Apostles time [when alive]. Lots of books were claimed to have been Scripture (way later on) but were examined and failed the test, or were gnostic era faked books, both which were spoken against in the eras they were made, or easily debunked after. If they contradict the 39 books of the OT (or what God revealed in the NT) they are not the Word of God.

As noted Christians do not consider the Book of Enoch part of the canonical Bible because it was not included in the Hebrew Scriptures and was later excluded from the Christian canon by early church councils. It is viewed as non-canonical because it contains teachings and narratives that are seen as inconsistent with & contradictory to the accepted books of the Bible. Additionally, its authorship and origins are uncertain, leading to skepticism about its authenticity and divine inspiration.
Examples of the book of Enoch in the Apocrypha that contradict actual Scripture:
1. 10:15-11:2 details that after the flood righteousness would be restored and evil would be eliminated. It implys that permanent restoration took place after the flood – clearly not true.
*This contradicts the Old Testament, it contradicts the New Testament… really everything.
* It seems the true author of this book confused scriptures pertaining to the future restoration.
2. Enoch 2:2-3 contradicts 2 Pet 3:3-7; it says that things have been going on in the same way since the beginning of creation, which is literally an argument 2 Peter warns about.
3. In 10:2, it condemns itself by having Enoch talk about someone saying something to Noah; Enoch was taken up before Noah was born!, and this is not given in a prophetic form, so…
4. 41 calls the Kingdom of God divided. Contradicts Jesus and the rest of Scripture.
5. 47:4 says God requires the blood of the righteous, which is… hmm… wrong. It isn’t discussing the blood of the righteous one but all righteous, but an offering of a ‘number’ of them.
6. In general, Enoch details, well, Enoch going down to Earth after being taken up by God, and that’s not supported by the rest of Scripture. It’s not precisely rejected, but no one else that God took made a habit of coming back. The dead remain where they are in death (paradise-heaven or hell). Moses and Elijah appeared to Jesus but Jesus is God and also that 1x appears to have been shown to us to point to the 2 witnesses who will come in the Tribulation era.
7. 1:1 Implies restoration during tribulation – in opposition with what Scripture says.
8. 1:8 is in conflict with the doctrine that peace was made at the cross. Also, in the last days tribulation will increase for the righteous – this “verse” seems to dispute that.
9. 5:4 Is an admonition to some unknown party – this is very irregular relative to the scriptures (i.e. authentic ancient writings by God-fearing Jews).
10. 6:3 Semjaza seems to be listed as the leader of the angels, which is not scriptural
11. 6:3,8 None of these angels are mentioned in the Bible
12. 8:1 Azazel isn’t even listed in 6:8 as one of the angels that fornicated with women
13. 8:3 Araqiel and Shamsiel aren’t listed in 6:8 either
14. 10:8 places the blame for all the fallen angels on some angel named Azazel, which is not scriptural.
15. Chapter 20 incorrectly assigns the roles of both Gabriel and Michael.
Incorrectly assigns the roles of Michael (the warrior) and Gabriel (the messenger), and lists strange angels not in scripture.
16. 40:9 Once again mixes up the roles of the 2 Archangels & adds more names in. Michael’s role in scripture is related to conquoring nations & fighting spiritual wars, while Gabriel’s relates to bringing messages & visions to people.
17. In 39:1-2 theres very strange implications there about the “seed” of angels dwelling with men at the end… which contradicts the scriptures and Jesus "the Word of God", who is God in the flesh: Jesus said angels do not have reproductive design to their body then A.they cant have sex with humans (and thus even the Nephilum myth is exposed as a heresy/ false teaching), and B. Jesus said in eternity we will be like them (without that design). There will be no reproduction going on in eternity. The new body we have in eternity will not be designed with sexual organs nor abilities.
18. 10:4-6,12 Implies angels can be bound & hid in holes under rocks. This is contrary to scripture, and they exist to Serve God, either in Heaven, or guard those who will be saved, and on a few specific occasions for specific reasons God had them do something on earth; none of which was to hide somewhere.
19. 13:5-6,14:4-5,7 Implies fallen angels can’t talk to God – this contradicts Job. Also implies that angels were repentant, but weren’t received back by God – very strange doctrine. God revealed in actual Scripture that Fallen Angels are going to be judged and sent to eternal lake of fire where any who sin will be eternally punished, incl humans who die in their sins. The NT shows demons and Satan clearly know they will be going to that place and that a time is marked out for when that will happen; Judgment Day. Scripture says humans were made in God's Image, and to fellowship with God, bring Him glory and to serve Him... however we also learn humans were made for His good pleasure - and being made in His image seems to be related to why he chose to make "redemption" of humans possible. Not so with fallen angels.
20. 21:7-10 Seems to contradict Biblical descriptions of the present & final judgement places for the fallen angels
22. 15:8-10 has very strange doctrine about “evil spirits” proceeding from unredeemable giants
23. Gives a very strange description of Heaven that conflicts with many scriptures!
24. 19:3 Discredits all other prophecy about the consumation of the ages.
25. Contradicts the Biblical descriptions of past, present & future dwelling places for the righteous who die
26. 32:2-6 Seems to imply the Garden of Eden was still in existance after the Flood
27. 36:3 Says the stars come out of portals at the Eastern edge of the earth & move West
28. 33:1-2 Says Heaven rests on a foundation that is at the Eastern edge of the earth
29. 33:3 He claims he counted the stars & individually mapped them, which is impossible scripturally (& scientifically)
30. 34 Says the winds come out of a “portal” at the Northern edge of the earth.
31. 17-18,21,23 Gives a very strange description of the earth & universe which is clearly not true. Also alludes to the ancient model of astronomy that held that there were 7 stars (the closest planets) which burned like the sun (they don’t.)
32. 41:4-5 Says the sun, moon, winds, etc. are stored in chambers & released at appointed times.
33. 41:6-7 Implies the sun & moon move opposite of each other
34. 43:1-3,44 Very weird model of the nature of stars & lightning
35. 38:5-6 Contradicts Daniel & other prophecies about the Millennial Reign
36. 40:7 Talks about the “Satans” – plural, different than the Bible, who gives that name to only one fallen angel. Also, implies Satan can’t stand in God’s presence, contrary to Job.
37. 41:1-2 Says the Kingdom of God is divided – it’s not & can’t be! It contradicts Scripture.
38. 47:4 Says God requires the blood of the saints… very strange, and NOT biblical!
Thats just from one supposed Enoch book... there are 3 Enoch books in Catholic and some Orthodox "Bibles".
🔥If there is 1 thing wrong (one actual contradiction) in something written (that goes against actual Scripture) >> then the whole thing is to be tossed out, since it is proven to not be of "the Word of God".
You need to have a solid grasp on what makes something written in OT and NT Bible eras "Scripture". Otherwise false Christian religions, sects and cults can easily dupe you. (1)
