CCM Music?

Q: . Is CCM bad? Isn't it mostly consisting of "Jesus is my boyfriend" music played on K-LOVE? Or extreme crazy rock styles? I hear so much negative about CCM music. Thoughts?

A:  CCM includes everything from Sandi Patty or MercyMe all the way to the likes of Newsboys or Red. It is Contemporary music.

CCM isn’t just a descriptor, it is a genre. And while I do think Skillet fits in it, the modern hymn writers, like the Getty's, do not.

CCM was always intended to not be typical church music (hymns, gospel, etc.) because there wasn’t much Christian music outside of the church music. So basically any popular style of music that has a secular counterpart, was labeled as CCM.

Music in the West known as secular music today, began from Christian music. The world always twists the things of God and good for its wordly purposes. Most all of that music is around lust, sex, drugs, money.

Most will consider the genre of CCM as what's played on K-Love, Way-FM, and Air1.

Many today consider CCM as a golden calf of Christian "entertainment".

But it its biblically accurate it is fine. If you notice a song where 2-3 things they said arent accurate, for solid music artists who messed up, you could just sing your own lyrics. Most wont go that far so consider other songs more biblically accurate instead, theres tons!

For a lot of ccm artists and music who werent around in 2000 and are new since  2016 onward their music is a bit iffy. I would just say:
*the music groups are under contract w companies that either arent Christian, or are wishy washy and have final say on lyrics 😬.
*Know Scripture well so you can avoid bad songs.
*Dont give your time or money to those from heretical churches like Bethel, Elevation, x and x. There's likely more of those 😬 in CCM today due to progressives & false church groups. Be cautious.

Here is a playlist of solid music.
Theres so much good music and hymns already avail today that we dont need new sparkly jazz to try to draw us to what's false and not beneficial to us.
