Why is meat cooked?

Q: Why do most people order their meat medium well or well done? 

A: It is normal in the West/USA because of JudeoChristian cultural societal foundation.

Red in meat today might be protien juices but to Judeo- Christian people, it appears as blood, so they ask their meat to be fully cooked, and it is due to religious reasons. 

Genesis 9:3-4 

God said, "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood."

Leviticus 17:11 

"For the life of the flesh is in the blood"

Leviticus 17:14 

"For the life of every creature is its blood: its blood is its life. Therefore I have said...You shall not eat the blood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off." [put to death]

In New Testament we were told 

Acts 15:29 the Apostles led by the Holy Spirit said, "abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, stangled, and from blood"

And while the rules and regulations God put in place was to protect a swift death for animals to eat, and proper usage for the old sacrificial system regarding sin and repentance the latter pointed to the promised Lamb of God, promised since Eden and revealed throughout the Old Testament that pointed to the perfect spotless sacrifice who was to come. Who would take away the sins of the world. 

Ephesians 1:7 

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

Romans 10:4 

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. -Romans 8:3-4

Colossians 2:14 

By canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.

Romans 7:6 

But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.

John 14:6 

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Fresh meat and store delivered meat has had blood drained, most of it anyway.  Today there are regulations and what we see in meat is protein juices or a dye. 

The meat market, butchers & businesses  add beetroot dye to meat that is coming up to it's sell by date so it looks more appealing, & not grayish.

So you might not need to be squemish if your meat shows up at a eatery "medium well" anymore 😊.
