Should I not watch that? & on other Worldly diversions
Born again believers,
Scripture tells us what to think on and be careful what we allow into our minds. Today in the west progressive anti Scriptural things are being subtly and overtly added to everything on tv from tv shows, to movies, to cartoons, to music to the news, to everything online.
What we consume from the world is drawn into our hearts and minds, it can seer us to the truth and believe subtle lies of Satan and cause us to behave based on sinful and false emotions vs truth, to think and speak and act and hold to a unbiblical worldview.
Many many in the Church know every tiny detail about 100s of tv series' and 1000s of movies, and a million things about their 50 favorite music groups or singers or celebs and all the 100s of thousands of statistics on 3,000 sports people and several teams and several sports genes but they know little to nothing about the Bible.
Have they read it cover to cover 100x? Have they memorized 2,000 of the most important verses & meditate on them daily? Have you memorized books of the Bible? Do you know the key stories in Scripture and where to find them? Can you answer the top 500 questions people have about Christianity? Have you studied well the attributes of God and the Character of Christ? When is the last time you read the Bible cover to cover, or even the last time you read it in a personal fellowship time with God?
Are you spending your time wisely to serve God, and to store up eternal treasures for Rewards and position? Are you sharing the Gospel as much as you can daily, and serving God and your congregation as much as you can? Are you using your spiritual gifts?
Are you loving the gifts God gives you over the One who gave the gifts?
Also remember what people think on does affect them. Several verses come to mind.
Bring in the world and drawn to its offers can depending on what it is, open door for demons to come around, satan is a roaring lion looking for whom he can destroy. That includes your biblical worldview, whether you decide something isnt a sin anymore, drags you into secret sins, whether he keeps you from meditating on truth, serving God, loving Jesus and leading you away from things that build up treasure in Heaven.
The worlds entertainment is a "diversion" to keep the world away from God, and lead Christians from Him too. What you let around you, in that way, draws demons to you, they cause intrusive thoughts, and whisper things to you and get a foot in the door of your heart and mind. They lead you astray with temptation; before you know it you then might have a seared conscience and growing list of secret sins, if not a change in worldview and beliefs, or all the above.
“Training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age"
Titus 2:12
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect”
Romans 12:1–2
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Philippians 4:8
But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin (Hebrews 3:13)
preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction (2 Timothy 4:2)
or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. (Romans 12:8)
and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24)
Be like Apollos who was open to correction and being informed, who changed and went on the right path of truth, recieving what the brethren explained to him. And so examine yourself to see where your heart really lays; with the world or Christ?
