Proof God Exists pt2
Atheist seeks clarity, asks Christian to expound on evidences.
The prev. article answer was a basic summary of truths. For clarity on them a bit more, see below.
Many atheists claim they only believe what they see, you might be reasonable and know that isnt always the case, so the article simply gave a list of proof to the request for evidences. However since you are genuinely looking, and seeking clarity on the 5 proofs listed, I am happy to help with that.
On Natural Revelation; what you see
Atheist: This basically says ‘look at the trees’ and is no more than an argument from incredulity.
Christian: the universe, nature and human design prove a Creator. Today we can see more about His creation because he lets us investigate it. We see DNA, understand about the eye, the body and even T3SS and Bacteria Fllageum.
It all points to the intelligent Creator God who revealed Himself to us in Scripture and history.
On Special Revelation; directly from God
Atheist: Asserting that a god wrote the Bible when it’s not even known which humans wrote it let alone a deity.
Christian: actually we do know who wrote each book, and as they were guided by the Holy Spirit. It reads as one person writing the entire set of the complete 66 books.
On Human inner design; hidden things
Atheist: the assertion is god has imprinted himself on your heart but provided zero evidence.
Christian: When you do wrong you instinctively know it is wrong. It isnt a social construct. Even deep african cannibal tribes have said [was in the news decades ago] they know it is wrong to kill people, so they made up their own standards of right and wrong and simply go to kill others outside their tribe. Murder is still murder. Violating God's Moral Law [the 10 Commandments included] is still proof of it being written on your heart, and yiur conscience accuses [or excuses you if youve seared it].
On Radical Transformation; by God
Atheist: Another baseless assertion this time that belief brings happiness and salvation awaits afterwards. No evidence of belief bringing happiness (although to be fair there is evidence of religious community doing so) and no evidence of anything ‘after’ least of all salvation.
Christian: belief doesnt bring happiness it brings permanent joy and peace. Because all humans on earth are stuck under the curse from consequences of sin believers have both the common sufferings and issues everyone else goes thru in life and additional suffering and troubles that come from a hostile world towards God and His redeemed people. The NT is full of those examples as is the OT, [and truthfully it shows both of those experiences of humanity].
But the goal of salvation is to restore what was broken at the Fall; fellowship with God and the righteous nature. We are eternal beings and will either spend it in Hell or Heaven & the New Earth [in a sin stained free eternity]. I thank God that he didnt wash his hands of us [kill us all and throw us all into hell] but planned from before to save humanity and give us eternal bodies.
He went to great lengths and great cost to bring the plan for salvation to completion thru Jesus. So we can get what we dont deserve [mercy grace forgiveness] and not get what we do deserve [judgment, eternal Hell and punishment for our sins against Him].
Christianity is based on evidentiary facts. Not blind faith and generic "hope" for something after death. Its based on solid evidence and proof. So we can "trust" in Him based on that.
The radical transformation is visible proof of salvation. Both for the believer who, [not upon appearing religious but perseveres to the end of their life], has been given a new heart, is made a new creation, and has a spirit that leads us in righteousness [evidenced by the sanctification process of removing sin and hating sin more and more in their life] but by the clear radical transformation others can see in their life as well. You can read or hear many testimonies of believers conversions by God and see that change in the life of those you know who were born again.
Pursuit of continued investigation:
Atheist: I’ll have a search around the "Investigate Christianity" link but I don’t hold out much hope at the moment.
Christian: You asked for evidence, it was provided, it is possible you are just dismissing or suppressing the evidence. However, since you said you would 👍go thru the mountain of evidence linked here, [which will take a while], since you are willing to go through all of it, you need to be "open to it" for the search for evidence [and truth] to be any value to you. Glad to be of help.
I hope it helps you on your path, and brings more clarity, but ultimately I hope it leads you to God and to the foot of the cross.
