Sinners Prayer question
When they see their need for Christ, and you as a messenger of the Gospel, a priest and redeemed one... You could pray over them as Ray does, and
1. Recommend they read Psalm 51 and pray to God the moment you part ways. You can open that up on their phone at biblegateway (under the nasb or LSB version). So they can read it.
*the person very well mightve been shocked about their situation before God, and agreed they need to put their faith in Christ, but...they really need to pray to God to repent to him of their crimes and get right. Think of a false convert who realizes they arent saved, theyll lunge to prayer to get right. So praying over someone isnt the person praying to God, but they might do so while Ray is praying over them.
2. Instead, I would give them a minute of silence after you pray over them so they can pray. That is a good idea and 👉if you say that b4 you pray, theyll take that opportunity if theyre genuinely being saved.
Then you can wrap up the convo and give them a new believers next steps booklet or FB messenger or text them a link to it or the one your church created.
Remember
The Ethiopian was left to God after parting ways, if they are genuinely converted by God during your convo then theyll go with God and be guided onward. The Next Steps book is helpful and a nice blessing to leave with them tho. And if they live locally you can invite them to church on Wed or Sunday, whichever gathering is soonest. And perhaps take them out to lunch or dinner or coffee to answer other questions they have, and explain the importance of going to church and reading the Bible as a new believer. Helps move them to discipleship and being in the family of God.
