Assissi
The quote "Preach the Gospel at all times; if necessary, use words." Has an ambiguous author. Some claim St. Francis of Assisi others say it was a Franciscan friar named Junipero Serra in the 18th century in California.
Regardless of its origin, the unbiblical quote was widely quoted from 2000-2015 by non Christians in an attempt to try to shut Christians up to stop the sharing of the Gospel. There was a popular duct tape "silence movement" craze happening then and it was used to try to encourage believers to keep their faith to themselves. Standard satanic tactics.

“to obey the Commission of Christ to "Go into all the World and preach the gospel". And "Preach the Word in season and out." Scripture declares" how will they hear if no one is sent" And “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17). We are to obey God above men. Go.
The verse "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation" is in Mark 16:15 in the New Testament of the Bible. This verse is part of the Great Commission, which Jesus gave after his resurrection and before his ascension into Heaven.
The verse "Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction" is in 2 Timothy 4:2, also in the New Testament.
The verse in Romans 10:14-15, reads, "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'" This passage emphasizes the importance of sharing the gospel message with others and underscores the need for messengers to be sent out to proclaim it.
I ran into someone the other day saying this quote and that we can just live by our life.
What was the life of the Apostles and righteous people in Bible like? Even Jesus? So why are these "believers" today not following their example? A: they dont want to speak 👉cuz they dont want to be disliked. Thats what it really is about. Which shows they're ashamed of Christ. They care more about what the world thinks of them - than God.
The person I ran into online genuinely asked how they can share Christ at work (since its not a Christian place that caters to homeless, and she was worried about doing a good job but also being fired). Someone said that assissi quote and suggested 'Just be quiet at the homeless shelter and "show" your faith by serving'. No. Share the Gospel while showing how you live. And let God move you to your next mission field if that job ends. Trust God. She decided she will be bold and look fir opportunities, whatever may come. God bless her.
MacArthurs point is that there are those who never share the gospel & instead think if the live well that’s the gospel and that’s not what scripture says. They went out and preached the gospel as seen for our example...the whole way through the New Testament.
Matthew 28 does say "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God" scripture states. As noted it also tells all believers to "go out into the world and preach the gospel". Yes our actions speak loud as we are called to walk worthy of our call in Ephesians 4, but we are commanded to preach the gospel. Not be silent.
How can a person know the gospel unless God's word the gospel is shared. Imagine a person dying today and you never shared the gospel just lived well in front of them. They would die in their sins because the never heard the gospel. And you would be an unfaithful servant to not seek opportunities to share the Gospel and seek to win souls.
