Q: I used to be a Jehovah's Witness and escaped. I wonder other Christians think about:
*blood transfusions,
*not saying the pledge of Allegience,
*communion,
* the passover,
*Armaggedon,
*and shunning
Also, I was baptized while in the cult. After I left, my grandmother says I turned my back on God.
I need a different perspective on these things and how I can get over the false teachings i was taught, in order to have a relationship with God.
A: Praise God you left a cult.
If you have family in the cult and they havent severed ties with you, and perhaps they follow you on social media, you can still try to win them to truth and out of the cult. Love on them and be a blessing to them, but dont let them try to pull you back in, let your light shine on them to bless them and pray, so perhaps God will call them out of the cult, and to the true God and Jesus, as He did with you.
God allows humans to look into the things of God, being made in His image. We are curious and creative. That said, All the founding fathers of modern sciences were Christian. God allowed them to look into and know the things we do today. That includes medications, surgery, transfusions, treatments etc. The only thing i would note as bad would be products made by research done on aborted babies. We dont end a human life to experiment on it. God values life, as are humans to humans, so whatever he has blessed us with, made known, and allowed, is for our benefit.
Science and founding fathers of modern sciences
Pledge of allegence is simply stating to be a person who loves their country and thanking God for our freedom and liberty, and be one who cares about true justice. The pledge depends on how you want to take it. Think about what it actually says and take it for the positive. Today those who hate America from within and hate America's Christian foundations are anti pledge. If you dont hate "God, freedom and liberty and justice for all", why would you hate the pledge. You are simply standing up for what is right and true.
Communuion and the Lord's Table is simply about remembering; is a time the local congregation unitedly purposefully remembers what Jesus did for us. Christians remember this 247 but as a body of Christ proclaim it together, as an ordinance wer are told to do (along with public testimony of baptism).
On Communion.
Resurrection day is celebrated daily, as individually redeemed ones, and every Sunday together, and annually as a celebration and reminder to the global body of believers.
End times are coming, regardless of the end times view you have, Jesus will return and tribulation and the vengence of God will commencement, and Judgement Day will arrive. JD is to condemn those who die or are found in their sins (without Jesus), and the Reward Seat is for those who have been forgiven (those saved by faith in Jesus). End Times study
Shunning is unbiblical but removing someone from fellowship due to unrepentant faith after following all the steps to seek their repenting and turning back to truth and righteous living is biblical. But only regarding what Scripture reveals, it is not a tool used the way cults do, nor are the way cults use it proper.
Church Discipline
If you left the JW cult, and became born again, then you need to be baptized in believers baptism, to publicly show you align with Christ, and doing so shows you have already been born again, that you died to self, died in Christ and were raised to new life by His resurrection. It's symbolic. Believers baptism is a step of obedience towards God, so nothing you did in a cult counts. Understanding Baptism
If you left a cult to turn to the real Jesus, you turned your back on Satan and turned to truth and the real God. Never be ashamed of the truth and never let those who are blinded by Satan try to get you to turn from truth back to Satanic lies. Your family, and anyone in a cult or false religion, has been decieved and it is hard for those people to realize and even admit they have been scammed and bamboozled by a lie/false religion. Cults hold people by fear (of damnation), not by truth.
Your relationship with God begins when you repent of sins and trust in Jesus. Your relationship is dependant on Jesus, not doing things to have or keep the relationship, Jesus does that, not us.
Make sure you are born again, so start there. You cant obey the biblical Gospel nor be saved until you understand it and obey it.
Then trust in Jesus and only believe what you grow to learn from the Bible. *A proper and reputable translation, not the JW version.
May God bless your daily walk with him.
