What does Scripture teach about Christians giving? 

Give out of our heart. 

2 Corinthians 9:7

Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Matthew 6:3

But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

Matthew 6:4

so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you
