Baptists Juice vs Wine

Baptists juice vs wine? 

No "Baptist teaching" ever said that it has to be juice, nor does Scripture. But you know what... wine was 2.5- 2.7% alcohol back then. 

Wine was used at important events like weddings mostly, but also cuz the water was purified. (You know... 3rd world country water safety issues).

Also it was watered down sometimes 20/1, bcuz there was very limited supply, and no one needed to dehydrate when its 110 degrees at noon 3 seasons out of the year and all you do all day is work outside. 

And the acidity of it was what purified the water, which is why boiled grape paste, which had 0 alcohol content, was sprinkled into water which was mixed wine, was what was used often, and it also purified the water. Water also enhances wine's flavor. 

Also, any sugary drink, aka grape juice, is in a state of fermentation to some degree.

So technically, grape juice is closer to it than today's high % alcohol. Not to mention the affordability of juice over alcohol. Most churches couldnt afford it in the budget, then or now. Also...  there was a reason for the switch; there was the prohibition era in USA cuz the men were just getting drunk and ruining entire families, (drunkards, irresponsible, not being husbands, nor fathers, lazy, etc), and almost the country. 

The wine isnt what matters, what matters is that the church body comes together and remembers Jesus sacrifice, by symbolism with the (red) wine and bread. It is about focusing on what God has done thru Jesus, and that He is mankinds Savior and Lord.
