Things learned from her interview
In the article we learned:
*Her parents fell prey to a legalistic sect IBLP which doesnt follow Christianity as revealed in Scripture. 

*Her husband helped her examine those beliefs based on Scripture.

*She deconstructed in a reformed way, meaning she deprogrammed from the false teachings of that sect. 

*She wrote a book about that journey called Becoming Free Indeed. 

*She learned not to live in fear, but to live righteously in Christ, and in freedom. 

* They spent years walking thru the text issues with her parents, being very gracious and patient in the process. And both parties agreed to dissgree on some things. 

*She still has a good relationship with her parents. 

* People in are struggling, living in fear, and feel stuck. She wrote a book and hopes it helps those who are in that sect or are in cults, to reveal truth and hopefully many will break free of the false, and hold to whats true in their faith journey.

i agree with her to a degree. The thing is, movements, speakers and book or curiculum material is meant to be a helpful guide. To bring out and explain Scripture and be helpful as you live out your Christian life. A life lived in freedom and liberty in the righteousness of Christ, (in the new nature, by the conversion God did in you).

You need "to be like a Berean" as Scripture calls it, to examine what a human says & teaches compared to what God revealed in Scripture. This prevents a person, leader or creator of a cult from decieving and controlling people. This is why it is important to read and understand Scripture. You can learn a lot by a basic read, but learn more by examining what it says overall on topics and also the deeper things. People need to read the Bible, so they know what it actually says, understand Christian teaching, and have a better grasp on Christianity. It only takes around 85 hours to read the Bible. I am sure there are leisure books you have read that take just as much time. It is doable. And a good challenge for this year. Just do it cover to cover.

The great thing about Christianity, which claims to be the true faith, is that it is one of freedom, liberty, And  salvation is free by God's grace. Not free to sin, but free to live rightly. And we can do that by reading and understanding the Scriptures. 


If you grew up in church but walked away, or are considering it, you dont need to walk away, or deconstruct it.... just do what she did stay in church but Disentangling you Faith. Hold to what is true, and remove anythung God revealed to us in Scripture that is in error and of no value.
