Misconceptions by non Christians 

“If the only reason on someone acts morally is fear of consequences, they're not a moral person."

"Christians think they have to be good people because someone is watching them.”

We Christians obey God for a few reasons, but the primary reason for our obedience is due to the fact Christ has given us a new nature; His nature, the desire for righteousness. And because of that we love God & Jesus and there is no reason for us not to obey the one we love.  Non believers have no such desire. They love sin and the temporary fun it brings them. 

We who have knowledge of the Truth see sin as it truly is, utterly wicked and evil. To the believer, sin is disgusting and repulsive. We obey God because we have knowledge of the truth. We also obey God because we love Him and want to please Him. We worship God, not by going to church or by doing great things, but by keeping His Commands (out of love). We also greatly fear God because we revere Him & He has also bestowed upon us the knowledge of His wrath and judgment. We also know what shall happen to the lawless and unbelieving. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. The good fear is your friend not your enemy. It's purpose is to save & protect you. 

Also, many say they don’t need a book to know good from evil, and I agree. The Bible also agrees. In Romans, Paul tells us that the Lord wrote the Law on our hearts, even as nonbelievers we know it. We are born with the knowledge of good and evil written on our hearts and our conscience bears witness. That is why none shall stand before God and make excuse for themselves. All people will have their deeds exposed, their secrets revealed, and every thought, word & deed judged. 

Only those who believe in Christ who bore our iniquities on the cross, (was punished in our place, died & rose again), and trust in Him alone as their Lord, and as Redeemer, will be saved from the wrath of God which will destroy His enemies (those who rejected Jesus and die in their sins).
