Deconstructing? Considering, in the process of or have deconstructed from faith?

Q: I am leaning towards deconstructing my faith because I realized there are bad people in the church, and I dont know how to understand that. Why arent they like Jesus.  Can you give me some advice?

Well, first I would note that we dont judge God by his followers. We know none of us humans are perfect and our sin in the world stains everything. Believers are all at different levels of growth in their walk with God, they fumble at times too. Just like you. I am sure these believers long to be perfect but know they're stuck in this body (that Paul himself lamented about & called wretched), until given a new one in eternity.

Next, examine why youre looking at deconstructing. 1. For those who are false converts it is because of their love of sin. This is why "they depart from us for they arent of us". They leave behind the truth Scripture proclaims because they love sin. They may continue on with a false belief, idolatry, making up a god and jesus they prefer and go out from us to follow that satanic idol they made up. They might even find others with similar idolatry and join their false church. 2. For believers it is because of doubts, because you need help solidifying your faith, (or because you studied the Bible and are leaving a false religious group that claimed to be Christian but upon examination you found it wasnt Biblical).

Next, know why you should reform your faith, not deconstruct it.  Read this too. And understand where it went wrong.

Deconstruction—is a dangerous and popular fad right now—it is a flawed process where a Christian reexamines his religious beliefs according to personal preferences, with self at the center.

Reformation is a proper process where a Christian corrects mistaken beliefs according to truth, putting Scripture [What God has said] at the center.

The key distinction between the two is the role God’s Word plays in the process. 

People are decieved and self-decieved when they dont think things through, and compare it with what the Bible actually says.

Finally, if it helps to solidify your faith, properly investigate Christianity deeper (1), and you will find you can stand on it with certainty. The Bible is reliable and true. If you are seeking truth, ask God to guide you and to accept it if the result is "true". Then embrace it and stand firm no matter what you feel sometimes, because you have found the truth. If you do that and seek it, you will find it. But if you do, then at that time abandon any preconceived ideas you had, and trust what is revealed & what God has said. He is not a liar, he is perfect/good by nature.  We as fallen ones, are evil because our nature is to sin.  The Scriptures say our hearts are decietful and we cannot trust it. We can't trust our own ways because theyre distorted by the fallen nature, and we're incapable of good without God working in us. The Bible will reveal this. It shows the perfect God who is otherly than us, and that fallen man needs the provided Savior to receive the righteous nature, reconnect us to God, so we can be right, repaired, made new & have an eternal fellowship with him.

Reading the Bible is good for clarity on matters that bother and concern you, but also to know what God has revealed, and desires for you. It even reveals our purpose in life.

👉While researching through this, read through the Bible too. You do have to examine Scripture as you investigate. It will take about 84 days (to go cover to cover) if you read 30 minutes a day. 🌟Tip: While you go through the Scriptures (use a highlighter) highlight important positive things about God, and (another highlighter color) about the benefits living the Christian life. Notice the warnings as you read through, and the importance of the gospel. If you do those 4 things, you will be well off in the end with that knowledge, but can also actually say, "yes I have read the Bible" (but... when you read do so with an open mind and heart) and you will be better off than others. Then when finished, reread all the verses you highlighted.

Final note:

If you became non religious and used deconstructing as an excuse to throw away God to sin as you please, I would note you were never saved, and never grasped nor actually understood Christianity. But in these links you finally can. 

If you are wavering in the faith because you want to be liked by the unsaved in the world and culture, then like Peter you need to pick a side to stand on (God or Satan). You can still be loving when you uphold truth and by what you say, but you never compromise. They hated Jesus so the world will also hate you. If you love Jesus you will cling to Him and truth. 

If you are in a possibly false group within what is typically claimed by people as "Christian" but want to make sure you hold onto truth and get rid of falsehoods then.... reform your faith, and find a biblical church to join that aligns with Scripture. (And read the Bible daily, and obey it as you grow in it.)

For non Christians reading this, 

Regardless of the above, once you go thru everything here and in all the links & its info, so you can actually say you have thoroughly investigated Christianity. Until then, you can't. [Note the last link has over 5,000 links in it, and the GQ has 730,000 links]. Go deep dive. Eternity is too long to be wrong, and could start for you today if you die. So dont delay, get this matter settled. 

 The good news is, while you can spend a lifetime looking at all of that, you dont have to do that before you become a Christian. You can simply do that while living the Christian life and growing (we learn over a lifetime) . So... what you need is only enough to realize Christianity is true and reasonable, over and above all other beliefs. And then embrace the Biblical not the man made up things. Whether that means moving from atheism to salvation, or from a cult or false religious group to true Christianity, and changing churches then do so. 

The goal should be to find out what is true, and hold to that regardless of the changes you need to make in life, both "spiritually" and in joining a "biblical" congregation as a child of God.  And once saved, we start the lifelong learning journey with God as your guide to help us grow in the knowledge of Scripture, which helps us mature in the faith.
