What is revealed when someone makes the statement 

"I used to be a Christian" ?

Just because you didnt actually understand Christianity, doesnt mean that you can never become a true Christian. 

* Many believed a false gospel, you are not the only one. 

* Many were in religion and idolatry not realizing they were never actually a true Christian. There are many false churches, false preachers, false quasi Christian religions and cults. 

* Many thought they had the knowledge of truth, but didnt really have it nor understand it. 

* Many never had their questions answered, but most never asked their pastor or Sunday School teacher the questions TO get answers about. Some found answers inline that were not written by biblical Christians but by God haters, atheists, and by people led by demons. 

* Others were looking for a loophole a escape so they could reject truth and God, Jesus and the Gospel, with the purpose to go back to sin and wallow in it for their short lifespan. These also did not have a correct understanding of Christianity, truth nor understood the Gospel. If they had, they could never go back to sin.

If you arent saved, you didnt have the understanding nor the full knowledge.

For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt. (Hebrews 6:4-6)

So...There is still hope for you.

Since therefore it remains for some to enter ["the rest" in Christ] and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience... [you have been warned, so] "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts."  (Hebrews 4:6-7)

After death is only judgement. (Heb 9:27)

While you are alive you still have an opportunity to be saved. But tomorrow is not guaranteed, neither is tonight. Get right with God right away.
