If God is love, why is

Q. If God is love why is there Hell & punishment? 


A: One needs to have a right understanding of God his character & nature, and his Love to answer that. 

Real love requires Truth. [Real truth, not the counterfeit distorted one of today]. 


Hell exists to punish fallen angels, but theres no other place for fallen man (who dies in his sins), so God made sure Hell would be the eternal prison for those criminals too. 

Scripture tells us Rom 3:23 The wages of sin is death. And Heb 9:27 further tells us- after death is judgment. So there is a place where punishment is poured out, that awaits those who die in their sin. As you noted Hell exists, but it's just a holding cell until Judgment Day when they will begin their eternal sentence in the eternal Lake of Fire. It is still referred to as Hell, for a simplifying things in a convo with unbelievers. But the truth is, if you die in your sins, you are set to be there for eternity, and theres no hope or way out. 

Think of a human court system. Do murderers get let go or do they go to prison?  Because God has perfect Love, is the God of perfection and totally Holy... then he will be a just Judge who rightly passes correct judgment and sentencing for the punishment of your crimes. Juster than any earthly one, because He is perfect in all he does and His judgments are accurate and good.


His wrath must fall. By nature justice must be satisfied.  Yours will either be on Jesus (if you get saved), or on yourself in Hell for eternity (if you reject Jesus via the Gospel). The easy choice and best choice is to flee to the arms of God and thank him for Jesus 😊(because of the perfect life He lived, sacrificial death, and the resurrection which defeated death he brought salvation, with it spiritual life; new life, to all who turn to Him, and we get to spend eternity in a good place, be right with God, and know Him). 

You and I are on death row, we live in it in this world, and upon death we shed this body and our spirit goes to either be with Jesus in a sin free place, or to damnation if you rejected Jesus & His Gospel (since you died in your sins without recieving the salvation that was freely offered to you). 

So get right with God today, as tomorrow isnt promised. Do the smart thing, and recieve, grace, mercy, forgiveness and s new life.
