version changes, history & cults

Discussion on missing verses and what else is at issue, and useful research etc

Q: Were some versions changed to suit the religion that uses them, like catholics? Also isnt it true that for centuries catholics couldn't read or own the bible, the leaders decided what they got to know...

A: part of what you said is true.

In old old times it was difficult to get a copy of the Bible, so only the church (during Apostles era & a while after) had one for the preacher to study and preach from.

Later Catholics got a hold of and controlled the Bible in the roman empire. They also added the Apocrapha books (books not canon, not Scripture). People in regions outside of Romes control already had the Bible & continued on out of Romes control.

The catholics kept people from access so they could make up whatever and control the people, both for power and generational control of people and their money, food and goods. They tied baptism and marriage to salvation and did a bunch of other unbiblical things to scare them in fear to cling to that religion. Traditions, Scripture twisting etc. That kept people out of Heaven.  The catholic religion veered off course over time. Info here

The Reformers called out the catholic religion, restored Christianity and got the Bible into everyones hands, (at high cost to their lives). Today Protestants have easy access to the Bible, moreso than in 1800s and early 1900s. The West is also educated beyond 4th or 8th grade now too. Even digitally and audio Bibles.

And today catholics now have a copy and can enjoy reading thanks to the reformers. Today typically if a catholic is seeking truth they read the Bible, 👀 theyll flee from that false religion, while counting the cost (as true of all born again believers). The reformers restored the truth of the Bible, back to what was taught by the early church (meaning from Apostles lifetime & by Scriptures actual teachings) and clarified what doctrines are in the Bible.

Cults did the same as catholics, twisting. Most of those came out when few had access to the Bible, and were low education level [4th grade]. And then the leaders there created their own Bible, edited and altered, to fit their cult teachings. And kept altering it to what they have now.  The members are usually told not to read other versions, (cuz if they read the truth they would flee). And they do not look at original Greek and Hebrew themselves and like catholics - rely on their religion to tell them whats in the Bible. So they have no interest in it. They are simply regurgitating what they tell them to believe. Afraid to look at anything else. Even to research to find out if their religion is a lie.

Today everyone has access to the reputable Bibles, and access to Christian bookstores...so all are able to obtain a Bible, read it, and if the religion or church they're in teaches diff from the Bible... they can leave & find a biblical church that does teach biblical doctrines.

As far as missing verses, theyre not in there for valid reasons, because of the various manuscripts the publisher translator chose certain ones. And if one investigates ....pretty much every protestant Bible (Bibles translated from the Greek & Hebrew manuscripts) says the same thing. Major teachings and verses are not altered by not including a few verses

Hope this helps.
