During the discussion it became very clear the college guy is highly likely not a Christian, even if he "goes to church", and so the speaker hoped the kid would examine himself and get right with God and go read the Bible. The speaker, as were most who watched the video, was surprised at the ignorance and arrogance of the youth (while he knew nothing about anything, the 2 topics he engaged in, and the Bible, acted as if he did), and the speaker was rightly perplexed (as anyone in church would be) that someone who going to church (and had a position there) would not know basics of Scripture and not be open to truth.
We can only hope the college kid got a wake up call from God during that discussion, and perhaps could be exactly why he was there that day.

1st, (the local congregation he is part of?) why would they cast him out? He has not fit the biblical requirements for being thrown out of the church, yet.
Here, his church leaders needs to come along side him and correct his misunderstandings and false teaching which he recieved from the world, not Scripture.
Scripture is clear on teaching and correcting. Just as they did with Apollos (he is in the Bible). Just as "much of" the new testament spends time teaching. Of our own people we are to correct, admonish, exhort, rebuke and call to repentence, and yes are called to be knowledgeable about the Scriptures... so he needs to start reading it AND getting his answers about life/the world from Scripture, his pastor, Sunday teachers (and can get some from reputable ministries online along the way, as addl helps). It is clear he has done none of this, and he gets his answers in the world. That is quite an issue for one claiming to be a believer. I hope his church sees this and helps him. And for him scoffing at, refusing and dismissing the correction and truths the speaker was educating him about, says much about the college kid, it appears he is actually not a Christian. Christians listen to learn and consider things. Let's hope God shook him that day and he started reading the Bible & examining himself to see if he is saved. That helpful convo is of great benefit to him if he considers what was said, and doesnt walk away full of pride and resentment. Because it would only serve to reveal the truth of his lack of salvation if he doesnt recieve and submit to the truth.
2nd, So what you said is incorrect. The church is "the redeemed believers". Not a building. It is for the Saints (believers according to the Bible, are Saints).
In John 3:3-4, Jesus stated, "truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot be the kingdom of God."
The born again come gather to worship God, get taught more about Scripture, serve one another, help one another, admonish, exhort, correct, call one another to repentance, submit to God, teach to share the gospel, and go into the world to share the gospel. The "church" is not for non believers. Light and darkness have no place together. Those who hate God and those who love God have no place together not now, not in eternity.
However, if some do not know a Christian in their life circle, and want to call or come to visit the local church and ask questions about God and salvation they can. Otherwise the Bible exists and they can read it. Also today peoplevcan look up answers online. Any question. GotQuestions.org is a great resource.
Christians are not perfect, but grow in sanctification.
A Christian will desire to read and know the Bible, and seek daily communication from God by it. If one has no desire to read it all during their lifetime, and arent regularly in it....their faith is weak or they are not saved. A Christian needs to know the Bible 1st for their faith and as they live out their daily personal "relationship" with God, but also to give helps and answers to others when conversations come up and for sharing the gospel.
For those "looking for salvation/redemption", it is easily found in the Gospel. Which the whole Bible speaks of and Jesus and the Apostles taught. If one doesnt look there, they dont care, and choose to hold on to whatever false beliefs they prefer. I hope you seek the truth and answers from the right place.
Hppefully anyone who saw that video discussion, will be drawn by God to go read the Bible, so they can know what is in it, what it teaches, what it warns about, topics about obedience, truth and the Christian worldview, as well as the Gospel and what the life of a believer looks like.
I am begining to think a gap year between High School and College should be necessary for every "Christian" to spend reading the Bible and learning what it teaches. Before going off to these worldly places, "Christians" need to know what the Bible says and solidify their faith. Otherwise it will be destroyed in college and theyll pick up false information they will assume is true, but it is not.
