Considerations about Judging
Q: Is it wrong for Christians to judge? Surely Christians are not to Look down on people and hating them because you don't agree with their lifestyle right? Should we be telling someone they are going to hell because of their choices? Does God judge and condemn or Christians? Did the thief on the cross have time to change his ways? Was he was given salvation ?
A:
Jesus commissioned Christians to go preach the gospel. We warn about judgment and Hell, share truth and about Jesus, and salvation. We do so with love and gentleness, we can be stern in warning as well. But never judgemental
If anyone is looking with rude "judgment" on others, theyre being self-righteous people looking down on an unsaved wicked person. We redeemed were once blind as all the lost. "Such were some of you". But for the grace of God who revealed truth to us, and the gospel. He lead us to truth and we turned to Him for salvation.
We are called to reach the unsaved, not judge them. Thats for courts to do. Yes as believers we hate sin and are becoming more holy, but we remember where we came from. We live in the love of God , and share His love and truth to others. Regardless of what they do with it. We can pray it is a seed sown, and pray for any unsaved's salvation.
As a Christian it isn't our place to judge others in the way people assume we are. Believers struggle with sin, but unsaved do not. They wallow in it and love their sins; it is why they refuse to come to Jesus. There are sins worse than others, but 1 sin damns. God has been clear. The wages of sin is death, and punishment on sin is eternal wrath. No one imperfect (sinner) can be in His presence. As the Just and Holy One, he must punish sin.
Believing in & Recieving His sacrifice is part of salvation. All that is needed to have that sin forgiven is to with a repentant heart..."believe" in Jesus (all of what Scripture reveals about Him). If we could overcome our sinful nature then Jesus died for nothing. We cannot save ourselves, this is why God came to save us.
The thief did have time. He knew he was a sinner, knew he needed saving, realized Jesus was the Savior... he repented and believed in Jesus. Exactly what Jesus taught on earth. Salvation is in the belief. Nothing else. And... Jesus saved Him.
If one is looking down on others he is being self righteous, whether saved or unsaved. Saved are to be loving, gentle, firm, and stand on truth, even if the unsaved reject it. We are not to be sekf righteous, we were once unsaved as the lost currently are. We simply pray to God that whatever we were able to share, it is a seed of truth sown into them, and that it will grow, and they will be saved before they die.
We do know the Apostles were firm in speaking the truth, they pointed out error. Shook their sandles off against those who wouldnt listen, and told us not to cast pearls before swine. God also draws a line in a sinners life, and he has an end date for their life and the doors of salvation close because of willful blind unbelief that wrongfully refuses to reason, consider and simply thinks he is right. There may come a time they listen before God draws that line, but be wise about next time you approach them, and decide if God doesnt want you to waste time with the person anymore. Leave the rest to God. They already know the truth, God has put it into everyone, they see creation, they know about Jesus and the existence of the Bible, if they suppress the truth because they love sin, and wont listen, then they're accountable to God for their disbelief in the end, they chose eternal Hell.
