Marijuana Alcohol & Smoking stats
Statistics and the damage of Marijuana, Alcohol and Smoking to the user and others
Keep in mind ALL of these would be viewed in Scripture and Biblical times of OT/NT as a NO. You dont even need these statistics to point out the dangers.
Alcohol
*Alcohol kills 88,000/year in the U.S. and 3 million worldwide
Alcohol was involved in "approximately 32 percent" (more than 658,000) of all drug related emergency department visits in 2009. Is Def higher in 2022.
Alcohol ruins relationships with relatives, family, parents, siblings, neighbors, coworkers, the person you are dating, and the persin you marry as well as your kids. High emotional toll on them, stress, anxiety, verbal and the physical abuse, infidelity. Spending time in bars i stead of at home with your wife, living a married life and helping raise your kids. It is so bad for the family & society that back in the day, the USA banned alcohol.
It causes car accidents, kills other people in car crashes from drunk driving, ruins everyones life in that/those dead people and dead childrens lives, and eliminates the dead persin(s) life. Causes you to be a murderer and sends you to prison for life if not the death penalty. It has horrible outcomes, and will leave you homeless, an addict or in prison. It is NOT worth it. The devil tempts towards sin and destruction he has no intention of making you happy or helping solve your problems, with drugs or alcohol, he only makes things worse.
Smoking cigarettes, vaping Ecigs etc...
*480,000 individuals die from smoking cigarettes every year, (and that includes! those innocents killed by secondhand smoke 😥).
Marijuana
Another important fact to remember is that marijuana’s effectiveness is not greater than other currently available medications. Chronic pain is the most commonly cited reason for using medical marijuana. Cancer pain, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, glaucoma and seizures are other common conditions people have been using marijuana for relief. In all these disorders, we have medications with far greater effectiveness than marijuana products.
Marijuana is the most commonly used federally illegal drug in the United States.
19 states have legalized medical and recreational marijuana. 18% Americans use marajuana.
Marijuana use directly affects the brain, specifically the parts of the brain responsible for memory, learning, attention, decision-making, coordination, emotion, and reaction time. Infants, children, and teens (who still have developing brains) are especially susceptible to the adverse effects of marijuana.
Marijuana arrests account for 43% of all drug arrests in the US. On average there's 600,000 marijuana related arrests every year. Law enforcers arrest approximately 2 individuals per minute for drug possession.
Weed overdose death rate has more than doubled from 1999 through 2013. And has certianly doubled from then to now- 2022. (and that includes those killed by secondhand smoke 😥).
Over last 22 years it is estimated 24,500 per year, or 540,000 over the recorded 22 years (of statistics kept) died due to related Marijuana usage.
Also, Weed usage adds increased risk of damage, injury and other issues (to self and others).
Marijuana usage risks, include:
*lung issue (respiratory problems, such as bronchitis, asthma and lung cancer).
The American lung association already confirmed that marijuana deposits 3x the amount of tar in your lungs than cigarettes.
Nov 2022 update:
New findings come amid a wave of legalizations, with 21 states now allowing recreational use, & eight allow it for medical reasons.
- Marijuana smokers are more at risk of lung disease, as well as breathing problems and chronic bronchitis, Dr Giselle Revah's team found
- Three-quarters of marijuana users had emphysema - a lung disease which leaves sufferers struggling to breathe - compared to two-thirds of tobacco users.
*heart rate issues (usage linked to the rising cardiac death rates)
*Marijuana users are 25% more likely to be in a fatal motor vehicle accident.
*motor vehicle fatalities increased by 6,800 deaths per year by (up 20%) when cannabis was legalized.
*motor injuries (of others that range between minor and life altering) due to a driver being high -
*marijuana exposure can be fatal to children 12 years and younger.
*rape and theft issues are also related to marajuana usage.
*93,000 people died from a overdose in 2020, (a 30% increase from the previous year)
*in 2014 there were 16,822 accidental poisoning deaths in the United States including weed
*6,748 were treated in emergency departments for the misuse or abuse of drugs in 2015, much higher now
*Smoking marijuana increases the risk of bleeding after a post-invasive procedure.
*Accidental work injury accounts for 29.9% of marijuana-related issues:
-deaths # were 4,821 in 2014
-3,486,400 nonfatal occupational injuries in 2015
-not known yet % &# higher deaths since US legalization, or newest #s for 2022.
Not known higher % and #s for all areas to date yet (2022). But it is staggering numbers.
Stanford University study 2023 states using marijuana leads to:
serious heart disease
coronary artery disease
cardiovascular disease
34% more likely to be diagnosed with coronary artery disease than those who had never used the drug.
Signs of the condition include having angina, or chest pain, feeling weak, dizzy or sick to your stomach, or experiencing shortness of breath. However, for some people, the first sign of CAD is a heart attack.
Marijuana smoke also delivers many of the same substances researchers have found in tobacco smoke — these substances are harmful to the lungs and cardiovascular system
Smoking or vaping any substance, including cannabis, should be avoided due to the risk of harm to the heart, lungs and blood vessels, the American Heart Association warned in 2020
Other research has shown smoking weed has triggered heart attacks and leads to a higher risk of strokes and heart failure
Research ongoing for consuming edibles versus smoking weed. But just because THC gets to the brain faster when smoked, doesnt rule out the impact; further research is needed to investigate various usage methods and their impact on the heart.
Mental health side:
*research shows a correlation between marijuana use and suicide:
-toxicology reports reveal that marijuana is the most common substance found in teenagers who die by suicide.
- suicide among Colorado veterans increased by 25%
*other consequences of marajuana usage:
- Psychosis (hallucinations and delusional thinking) or paranoid psychosis
- Intense anxiety and outright panic attacks
Marijuana is def not worth it
Violence:
Just looking at the 1st 4 states that legalized marijuana (from back in 2014-2015) has increased violent crime from prev year. Far greater than national increase. Had a combined increase of 37% more murders and 25% aggrivated assaults.
Associated with a surprising number of child deaths from abuse and neglect, far greater than alcohol. But we are not comparing to alcohol. It's also more than the abuse & neglect by users of cocaine, meth and opioid combined. It is shocking statistics.
Drugs - (to get high or abusage, not proper medicine)
Clearly drugs are a no. Same as all the other reasons stated here and on the page you were directed here from.
A Harvard study lead by Dr. Armund Nicholi
said to anticipate a greater number of suicide and anticipate a greater amount of violence. He sees the trend as a devistating trend that is destroying families.
Other Health & Life Risks
In late October 2022 the Oxford European research study of around 1 million people showed usage associated with drugs and Marijuana leads to atrial fibrillation because there’s a risk of embolism and blood clots. While these blood clots can go anywhere, the one that we are most concerned about, because of its proximity to the heart and because it is frequent in terms of incidence, is the possibility of stroke.
These things are not worth it.
