firefight
We got notified in mid 2022 family cousin was in a 🏠🔥 house fire at his home. No one knows how it started. He was on the porch with a couple people, and several family were inside, including his wife and newborn who were both taking a nap in the bedroom, and 2 of his older sons. He ran in to rescue all the people. He got them all out, but died of smoke inhalation and didnt make it out. The house burned to the ground.
🫂Family & others who knew him were in shock over his sudden death (having just seeing him at Church on Sunday -the night b4 the fire).
He was a leader in a very small church, in a very small town. He was active in sharing the gospel. He left behind a wife and 6 young-adult children (19-28), and the new baby. He has siblings, and his parents are still alive. He was in early 50s. God called him to save people. To reach the lost and reach the perishing in the home. He gave his life for them.
Later when talking w my spouse, we discussed the amazing thing about this is how his death mirrors a visual of the Father sending Christ dying for us, doing what it took, (the extreme lengths God went to, to rescue people from Hell; through the life, work, death and resurrection of Jesus), and the visual of believers [commissioned by Jesus] rushing into this dying world with the gospel to warn & snatch souls from the flames of hell.
Very rare for that kind of death to happen in real life.
📖John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, that someone would lay down their life for their friends. [Jesus]
My prayer around cousin's "life and his death" will be for his story to shared to bring Glory to God & souls to come to faith. Remind people about desth, and have people will think on the seriousness of eternal matters, today.
