Atheists and evil
The "problem of evil" is one that many have struggled with, but at its root it is more anger at God (because we disapprove of His plan to handle evil) than a sign that there is no God (if there was no God, there wouldn't even be an objective measure for "good" or "evil").
In Isaiah God explains in one simple passage why things are the way they are...
"The earth is defiled by its people;
they have disobeyed the laws,
violated the statutes
and broken the everlasting covenant.
Therefore a curse consumes the earth;
its people must bear their guilt."
- Isaiah 24:5-6
We broke God's laws and brought the curse of evil on this world...and all of creation bears the consequences of the curse. From out-of-control weather, to cancer, to birth defects, all creation groans. And beyond fallen creation, the evil hearts of humans perpetuate even more abominations. What do they deserve? Hell. What will they get? Hell.
Jesus not only suffered the punishment on behalf of everyone who will turn to Him, but He also mercifully delays His judgment allowing time for repentance and forgiveness. If you have an idea of Jesus as a mild, pale-skinned, pansy, you've missed the Jesus of the Bible coming in flaming fire to inflict judgment...
"God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord." - 2 Thessalonians 1:6-9
Today is the day of God's favor... Today Jesus holds out His hands to you in offer of forgiveness. Don't wait any longer. ❤️
